Lets celebrate fitness

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program. It is the primary fitness program for military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders. CrossFit isn’t about treadmills and stationary weight machines – instead, you’ll find pull-up bars, barbells, kettlebells and wide open spaces for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing. CrossFit workouts are comprised of exercises that mimic everyday movements and situations – moving your body the way it is built to operate. Each day features a different WOD (workout of the day), which will keep your body holistically fit and your mind stimulated. CrossFit programs are developed for scalability, allowing people of any fitness level and experience to participate. Everyone – adults, kids and teens alike – follows the same general program, simply modifying load and intensity based on individual ability. CrossFit is enjoyed by elite athletes, beginners, and everyone in between.

I can’t say enough great things about this CrossFit gym! When I first started with CrossFit I had not worked out for 3 years. I was nervous but at the same time excited. Mason was the first coach that I had a class with who was amazing and encouraging. He scaled down for me what the class was doing so I could successfully get through the workout. I won’t say it has been easy, but I am feeling stronger every day. I started out lifting no weight to lifting about 45 to 55 pounds depending on what we are doing. I could hardly run and now I am running on weekends on my own. Vince is another coach that I work with as well. He is very patient and kind. I have never done CrossFit or lifted weights before so learning the terminology was another aspect of learning CrossFit. I must thank both coaches for being patient with helping me learn that as well! Most importantly CrossFit has made me a healthier person. I have only lost about 4 pounds but when I had my yearly physical with my doctor my blood pressure went from 140/80 to 120/70. I have not had that good of blood pressure in a few years! It’s been about 5 months and I am looking forward to more positive results in the future. I also want to say that the people that work out at CrossFit are kind and encouraging as well! Another thing that really stands out to me is when you have an injury or something else going on they are totally thoughtful and helpful with substituting a routine, so you can still participate in the workout! I have enjoyed CrossFit more than I ever imagined I would but I think if it wasn’t for the amazing owner and coaches it would not be so! Thanks again Revelry CrossFit and Coaches! I am looking forward to seeing future result!!!

I love sports. I love playing them, watching them, reading about them, talking about them. As a Dad I secretly hoped my kids would want to play (I would have been just as happy with healthy tuba players!) and they didn’t disappoint! I loved watching what sports did and continue to do for them. I believe it teaches a person team concepts, how to work with others and provides a foundation for physical fitness that you can take with you throughout your whole life. As I watched my kids play I noticed that personally I had forgot this lesson. I have a beautiful loving wife and two daughters that amaze me every day but I wasn’t taking the time to take care of myself. It’s hard to pinpoint when it happened but at some point exercise had faded all the way out. In its place came an unhealthy physical being prone to skipping out on overdoing it. The old me used to throw out my back and walk sideways for weeks. The me now tweaks my back and hits the rower instead of the 400m warm up run. The old me (around 39 yrs old) needed to do something so I started with a trainer but though I appreciate the foundation I got it wasn’t as consistent as I needed.

On a whim I stopped by the Crossfit gym on my way home from work. Knowing nothing about it somehow from the first workout it grabbed me! Just like a kid I had a Coach again. The Coach directed the workout, all I had to bring was my effort!! That was the immediate lure but underneath that was the people. To anyone outside the community it’s hard to put to words how incredible it feels to witness people in every walk of life getting better every time you see them! Crossfit for me started as physical growth but as I sit here and write this I’m affected everyday by people. A friend of a friend posted a video of herself making it up the rope for the first time and I can tell you that not knowing her didn’t make me any less proud of her. Climbing a rope is scary, as challenging as It is physically I give the nod to mentally. I remembered how I felt when I had that same moment and I was immediately fired up! As impressed as I am watching elite athletes compete some of the best moments come from simply watching a person’s confidence grow simply because they have pushed themselves way past what they believed they were capable of. Again, so powerful it’s a challenge to put into words, I just go back to it fires me up! I just celebrated my 45th birthday and am happy to say that I’m still grinding it out and even hitting PR’s. l love working with the coaches and definitely do need that voice telling me to “pick up the bar”. Some days I’m my biggest critic but days like today feel really good. To anyone searching, try it. You will love how it makes you feel on the outside for sure but the inside is where the magic is.

My CrossFit journey began June 2014 I knew it was time to make changes in my life. I had been a stay at home wife and mother to my children at that time for almost 18 years. During that time like most mothers you but you family first and forget about the importance of taking time for yourself. I started gaining weight and completely let myself go. Before I knew it I was a 189 lbs, size 14, feeling horrible, no energy, and trying to avoid all social gatherings because I was so insecure about the way I felt and looked. I always had the typical gym membership that I would never stick with. I was always planning to start Monday… or beginning of the month… it was always a New Year’s Resolution. It was same old routine year after year. In May 2014 my daughter and I went to Hawaii and we got back I was looking at pictures from our trip and could hardly recognize myself and could not believe that I had let my weight get that out of control. On that very day I decided it was time to stop talking about losing weight and just do it. I researched a few eating plans and found one that I knew would work for my lifestyle. Only thing missing was a workout routine that I would stick with and then a couple days later my sister called and suggested we give CrossFit a try. I had a long list of reasons why CrossFit wasn’t for me: it was expensive, you had to do pull-ups, it makes you big and bulky, I didn’t want to be that person who had to modify all the movements, and the weights looked very intimidating. But, since nothing wasn’t working, I decided to give CrossFit a try!

That decision was life changing for me, I was addicted after my first class and couldn’t wait to come back the next day…even though I could barely walk. I love that CrossFit allows me to work out without getting bored of the routine because it’s something different every day and my coaches and peers push my limits daily. Even when I think I can’t, when I’m tired, sore, and want to stop I see everyone else still going and it motivates me to push myself and finish, as opposed to going to a “regular” gym I would have quit. CrossFit is a place to be proud and also humbled. I am challenged to do my absolute best every day! It’s the CrossFit community that I love most, I have made so many amazing friends along this journey and we help keep each other accountable and there is nothing better than seeing someone else achieve a goal. I look back at myself over four years ago and I can’t believe I’m the same person. I am so proud of all my accomplishments that I have achieved. I am proud of how I look and how I feel…there is no better feeling than being healthy and fit. At the age of 41, I am by far, in the best shape of my life! It just goes to show you it’s never too late to reach your weight, fitness and health goals.

I jumped into CrossFit with a bootcamp class in July 2018. I was easily the heaviest one walking in (which I was prepared for). I also prepared myself to be the last to finish and struggle extensively. I hadn’t worked out in at least 2 years if not more. To say I was intimidated was an understatement! But childcare was included (hard to find!) and I needed to focus on myself for a change. The women at Revelry CrossFit were so welcoming and encouraging. Instead of feeling like the newbie, I felt like one of them – on day one! When I didn’t understand the lingo, either the coach or the other participants would help explain it. Before each WOD the coach demonstrates the movement AND most often has the class practice with little to no weight, so I’m always going into the workout prepared and ready. I surprised myself, the workouts weren’t as hard as I thought they would be. The coaches really help you, not only to focus on form to prevent injury but they help you get out of your own head! Being at Revelry has given this toddler mom of two new life. I have a confidence I haven’t had since well before I got married, I sleep 100% better at night, I eat healthier, I’ve lost a significant amount of weight and I’ve gained a new perspective. The atmosphere at Revelry CrossFit is that of a family. You will not be disappointed! Stop putting it off and check it out for yourself. I could never thank my friend enough for inviting me to check it out!
